Winter Wedding Inspiration Board II ~ Modern Meets Recycled

Modern Meets Recycled Wedding Invitation Set

With the smells of cinnamon and spice and everything nice, what better time to get married than during the Holiday Season! There are may different Holiday color palettes that can be taken advantage of during this jolly time of year. From silver to blue; or gold and white, to the classic red and green, today's Christmas color match ups are unlimited. Create a stylish holiday wedding - don't let the HO HO HO's steer you in one direction. Don't forget the yuletide time of year is also filled with snowflakes, crisp cool air and lots of sweet tasting treats. But before we go ahead and hang up our stocking lets take a look at a more rustic Christmas wedding inspiration.

Mixing a little modern with a little recycled we created a rustic wedding invitation which we appropriately call, "Modern meets Recycled". Two layers of recycled paper are united together to form this elegant square invite with contemporary formatting. The first layer of card stock is an off-white card with specks of metallic gold. The second layer of this invitation is a tan color which is also used for the matching reply post card. Keeping with this earthy feel we harmonized this modish invite with some natural basics. Give your guests a little bit of nature to take home with them, with these evergreen saplings wrapped in burlap. Carry over the burlap theme to your table dressings as place mats on top of a flannel knitted blanket. Finish the table off with white candles in over sized vases with holly berries in between. Tie it all together in you bouquet with holly berries, ivory roses, evergreen springs and a gold wrap and you'll be tempted to wail Falalalala...lalalala!!!

Winter Wedding Inspiration Board I ~ Ticket to Broadway

As we make the transition from Fall to Winter we tend to think of darker, richer, and deeper color palettes for wedding choices. The oranges and amber's turn into reds and golds and although the cinnamon aroma remains, pumpkins change to cranberries as we welcome the winter solstice. This season is the perfect time to work with contrasting colors to create that WOW factor!

Check out our Winter Inspiration Board below featuring our "Ticket to Broadway" wedding invitation...here's what it entails: The landscape style invitation is printed on an ivory shimmer card and bordered with a deep red shimmer card which is adhered to a black shimmer pocket fold. This ivory, red and black invitation set includes 2 information cards which fit perfectly in the below pocket. This Broadway theme invitation is closed with an ivory grosgrain ribbon and personalized tag.
We love the tiny touch of red added to this invitation which is why we matched it to this tiny little ring bearer and his daddy:) We followed this with an oh so perfect touch of red on one of our favorite accessories...shoes of course!!! Lastly, the ivory and black cupcakes - who doesn't love cupcakes???!!!

Tags tags and more tags

TAG: label, a small piece of cloth, paper, plastic, or other material attached to something as a label or means of identification.

We love those cute, colorful and stylish tags. Many of our pocket fold invitations are sealed closed while showcasing a tag. Tags have monograms, quotes, images, wedding dates, names and/or a combination of a few things. Wedding invitation tags can match the inside colors of the invitation with multiple layers of paper and are either attached right to the invite or attached to a ribbon. If they are not on a pocket fold invitation then they are on a thread of ribbon or hemp hanging on eagerly for your guests to read them.

There are endless ways to display your invitation tag. Here are some examples of how we went above and beyond the regular tag...

PERSONALIZED GUEST TAGS

For this bride and groom's Broadway themed wedding they wanted to omit the inner envelope but still personalize who was receiving each invitation. We suggested printing each guest's name, on an individual tag in lieu of an inner envelope. What a fabulous idea for this knockout invitation we call Ticket to Broadway.

IMAGED MONOGRAM TAGS

Just add an image or theme you've used on your invitation to a simple monogram and date and presto... you have a simple yet bold tag. Below is the tag used on our "Anchored in Love" wedding  invitation. The anchor was used throughout this invitation set displaying it on the top of each enclosure card and invite itself.

Simple Monogram Tags

Names, date, images are sometimes not needed. A simple classic "H&E" may be all you need. These small tags were adhered to a hemp rope which wrapped around one of our handmade paper pocket fold invitations which we've named, Endless Summer. We also implemented the same monogram to a larger tag placed on their matching "matchbook style" programs.

Custom Designed Tags

If you want us to design an image for you - NO PROBLEM! And then, you'd like a tag made out of that same image...DUNZO! Check out the waves...just imagine it and it can be created, and then made into a tag of course:)

Picture Tags

If you want to incorporate a photo into your wedding invitations without all of the overkill, why not simply include it as a tag like the following couple did. This couple had a caricature drawn of the two of them including sunflowers, which was another important element in their wedding design. Since they had a destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, we cut the silver shimmer backing paper into a custom shaped luggage tag and then OLÉ!

Information/Special Message Tags

Tags can also be used for giving your guests information. On our "Please Recycle" invitation there are two tags on the back of this Earth Friendly invite. The first tag is made of plantable paper and the second tag is the information and directions about planting the paper for their guests. Not only does this tag give a little back to Mother Nature, but also sets the tone for their Green Wedding to come!

Finter Inspiration Board II ~ Tiffany's on the Beach

Soooo excited about another Finter inspiration. In case you're not in "the know" of Finter...it is our newly named season combining two wonderfully now seasons: Fall and Winter. We have matched up one of our extremely popular wedding invitations, Tiffany's on the Beach, which is where our inspiration was derived. We have had so many couples recently expressing interest in this formerly known as a "summer wedding invitation", for the Fall & Winter months that we were thrilled to include our "Tiffany's on the Beach" wedding invitation into this inspiration board...here is what it entails:

The wedding invitation is printed on a bright white card with sand on the corner of the card; it is bordered with a rich black card stock, and bordered, once again with a tiffany colored shimmer card stock. This set includes a single panel reply card and a dinner and dancing information card. The entire set, or (stackable invitation) as we like to call it, is wrapped in a smooth black satin ribbon and a matching tag displaying the couple's monogram and wedding date. We paired this Fall invitation (and Winter invitation) okay, okay, okay...FINTER invitation with this beautiful slight sweetheart neck wedding dress, a 3 tiered white wedding cake with clean modern lines and delicate flowers and of course stillllllllllettos - gooooooorrrrrrrrgeous!!!!

Finter Inspiration Board I~ The Nautical

As the days become cooler and the trees more bare, we are entering a somewhat transitional season. The climate is drastically changing and winter is right around the corner. And while it's still Fall and we are welcoming the frosty mornings, we are still enjoying the park with the kids as the sun heats up the afternoon hours. With this beautiful, yet perplexing time of year, we have decided to add a Season to our former four and have named him FINTER. (Go ahead and guess how we figured that one out:)  Now, Finter is a WONDERFUL time to plan a wedding - there is just sooooo much you can do!!! Follow our inspiration board below and see how we've combined Autumn inspired weddings and Winter inspired weddings to match our beautiful custom designed wedding invitation with other wedding pieces in this wonderful transition season.

Shown below is "The Nautical" wedding invitation set. The invitation is printed on an ivory linen card and bordered with an ivory shimmer paper. This bordered square invitation is attached to a custom designed blue linen pocketfold. The information cards were also printed on ivory linen cards and placed in the pocket. When closed this pocketfold invitation is wrapped with an ivory grosgrain ribbon. We printed a nautical knot on a tag and attached it to the ribbon to complete this navy pocketfold invitation set. While we are in Finter, you can always accessorize your gorgeous wedding dress with a coat and scarf and matching yellow gold rings. And we're pretty sure the ring bearer won't forget a pillow as beautiful as the burlap one shown below.

Fall Weddings Ideas

Autumn is by far one of the best seasons to get married. The blistering summer heat has come to a screaching hault and comfortable, cooler nights creep in. And we can't continue without mentioning the ghosts and goblins....booo ah ah ah!!! But on a less scary note, Autumn is a wonderful season to get married especially when using many of the key elements of the season in conjunction with your wedding.

LOCATION - LOCATION - LOCATION

Barn

What is more rustic than a beautifully decorated barn? More and more couples are seeking an outdoor wedding without having to use the traditional white outdoor tent. Mixing vintage with chic and you will soon see a fairy tale unfold in front of your eyes. With some strings of lights and some primitive table decor, your guests will be blown away with how an nontraditional wedding venue can be so intimate.

Garden or Pasture

Have access to a botanical garden, or a family member with ample land ready for the taking? Turn any open field into your ceremony setting. Imagine mountain tops or rolling hills of green grass as your back drop. Mums are a beautiful choice for an in season Fall flower. Use mums to add a pop of color and create your wedding aisle (as shown in the picture below). Check out local wineries in your area for a lovely outside venue with a rustic feel. And who says you can't get married on the beach in the Fall? Make an aisle in the sand with those cute paper bag lanterns and pair them up with mini pumpkins and you have a match made in harvest heaven!

TIMING IS EVERYTHING

Spring forward and Fall backwards. The sun starts setting earlier and earlier into the Fall months so don't forget day light savings time when planning your ceremony time and pictures. Are you geographically lucky enough to be located where the leaves change into an assortment of colors, can we say BACKDROP??!!  However, make sure to check when they may begin to fall (no pun intended:) You don't want a back drop of bare trees - EEEEEEKKKKK!!!

Want a fun bold theme?!?! If you are getting married the weekend prior, or perhaps right after Halloween go for the Halloween themed wedding. Pumpkins, corn mazes and costumes can make  this single, and obviously special night, FUN for all your guests. If you don't want to do it for your wedding, have a Halloween themed rehearsal dinner. Let your wedding party dress up and loosen up before the big day.

GO LOCAL

Pumpkins, sunflowers, gourds, corn stalks, hay bales, apples...and the list could go on!!!! Check locally for these great Fall attributes to include in your wedding. White pumpkin centerpieces, apple cider cocktails and sunflower bouquets are just a few ideas. Ask your vendors for what foods are in season to include in your menu. Don't forget the cute menu cards describing your fall inspired cuisine.

BE FLEXIBLE

It's understandable that everyone wants their dream wedding, including the perfect flowers and food, but when it comes down to saving Benjamin's, I think we're all in agreement that some areas we can be flexible. Talk with your florist, vendors and photographer on what deals they may be able to offer with in-season items.

The perfect beach wedding card box

Picture this... you're having a Seaside Wedding; dress is ready, reception is booked, your perfect beach influenced invitations are sent out. As the date comes closer, you begin to finalize your reception details. You start to think about the little details like the gift box, also known as the card box. You know, the box you usually see at past attended weddings made from cardboard and wrapped with wedding gift wrap where all of the guests insert their cards. Now that doesn't sound beach influenced at all! For the following wedding, we needed to create something beach-like for our bride and groom, Helen & EJ's Seaside Wedding.

There are numerous things that can be used for a card box that doesn't necessarily need to be an actual box, and for us, it was time to think outside the box:) Their colors were navy blue and hot pink and she wanted something beach-like to flow with their wedding theme. After some research we decided on a crate. A wooden crate with a clasp-able lid that, with a little finess, would be turned into a one of a kind card box. We painted the crate navy blue, creating a bold and definitely recognizable gift box which if it could talk it would say, "CARDS HERE, PLEASE". Next we filled the slots in the crate with decorative fish netting and decorated it with seashells. We used the same fonts used on their matching wedding invitations and printed their "H&E" monogram, which has been a staple design throughout this process, and presto a card crate is created.

Fall Inspiration Board IV ~ The Harvest

Most of us capable of reading this blog will agree with the fact that back in the day many colors combinations were just not allowed and almost frowned upon. How about the legendary, don't mix black with brown? Yes, this was a passion filled fashion ewwww and quite the unconceivable fusion of colors. Well, combining the oh so uncombineable and oh so saturated black and brown black colors was nothing short of exhilerating! Sorry if we get so excited by the small things, but come on people, we all know this was a major " NO, NO" back in the day. Well good riddens to old thoughts and helllooooo to an open minded untraditional world of new and modern design. Can we say Fall elegance?
Walking down the aisle in the Jim Hjelm beauty will leave your guests breathless, until it's time for cake that is:) The simple yet, artfilled wedding cake design of Fall tree branches cascading down the tree is in a class of it's own. And don't forgot the purrrrty nails to finish off this classy look.

Now for what we've all been waiting for the invitation that breaks all the rules...description please:
Our chic, yet rustic, Autumn wedding invitation, The Harvest, was printed on a chocolate brown cardstock (paying special attention to the formatting of the wording). We bordered this invitation with a strong black card, only showing the border on the top and bottom of the invitation. We finished this Fall invitation by wrapping a hemp rope around  the mid section of the invitation.

Featured Couple: Kendra & Matt Pilson

Kendra & Matt Pilson
April 26th 2008
The Tradewinds Hotel
St. Petersburg, Florida

Wedding Theme: Beach and Natural Elements
Colors: Brown and Aqua
Location: The Tradewinds Hotel Oceanfront
 St. Petersburg Beach, Florida

When Kendra first inquired about wedding invitations, she seemed very easy going and had no specific design in mind. She casually explained her love for the colors blue and brown and described the laid back tone of their beach chic wedding. Soooo...this is what we came up with when we combined the two samples we created for one of our favorite couples.

Wanting to include natures best qualities, we used handmade paper, hemp and sand to create this beach invitation that's in a class by itself. Starting with a hand torn brown mulberry pocket fold we literally tied everything together with hemp. The invite is printed on a natural card stock, backed with a aqua blue shimmer card stock and both are tied to the pocket fold with hemp knots. Instilling a beach influence into this wedding invitation didn't stop at the love knots. We created a wave of sand on the side of this gorgeous seashore invitation. Inside the custom designed hemp pocket we placed the matching enclosure cards printed on the same natural card stock. The reply card is also backed in the turquoise shimmer card stock possessing it's own hemp tie. After everything is tucked into this handmade pocket, it is then folded and wrapped with hemp rope and a matching tag showcasing Kendra and Matt's name with a simple starfish image.

We know it's a shocker, BUT, we didn't just stop with this unique wedding invitation. We carried over the same theme having starfish menus,  place cards tied to finger large star fish favors and match book style programs.

The inspiration behind...and how we customize

When Kendra and Matt first contacted us about invitations, they seemed very easy going and had no specific design in mind. With them living in Florida, and us being in Maryland, you would think our phone consultation would be nothing less than a full description of their wedding inspiration. Let's face it, we've had brides send color swatches by mail with blueprint-like details of their expectations of what we will eventually design for them. And while we welcome instructions and appreciate details, we were extremely surprised at the relaxed tone of the 3 way convo we had with Kendra.

She casually explained their love for the colors blue and brown and described their pursuit for a laid back,  beach chic wedding. Allow us to walk you through our design process and development of the two samples that will ultimately be combined into wedding invitations for one of our favorite couples from the Sunshine State.

The 1st sample was printed on a bright white card stock while using a rich chocolate brown card stock with a weave texture to border it. In between those two layers we placed a piece of blue handmade paper with a "swiss cheese" effect which shows the brown paper through the holes. The three layers of this rectangular shaped invitation are secured with a chocolate brown wraffia knot on the very top. And to top it all off, well - that would be to bottom it all off - we added sand on the very bottom of this invitation for perfect beach touch.

On the 2nd sample, we used brown handmade paper to make a custom pocketfold. The invitation is printed on an ivory card stock and backed with an aqua shimmer card. To incorporate the beach into this invitation we designed starfish and printed them cascading down the side of the information cards. We used a natural hemp rope to attach the pocket and also as a wrap to enclose the invitation.

Kendra and Matt were ecstatic to see their samples. They loved them both but, still wanted some changes...so this is what we came up with - keep the sand from sample 1 and the style from sample 2 and voila!!! This, friends, is what we call custom:)

We took the sand from sample #1 and the overall style of sample #2,  and combined them together to create Kendra & Matt's out of this world beach invitation. We removed the starfish from the original sample and added it to the outer tag of the invitation. We also included the starfish on the guest's dinner menus. To take it up a notch the custom printed place cards were attached to a finger star fish.

BUT WAIT......we are not done with how we customize :) Let's take a look how another one of our couples were inspired by Kendra and Matt's custom beach wedding invitation. With making just a few changes to customize this invite to accommodate Helen and EJ's wedding color scheme, we were able to use the same style and make a whole new beautiful invitation. From brown and aqua to navy and hot pink this invite will WOW your guest.

Fall Inspiration III ~ "Fall"ing in Love

Is a traditional Autumn wedding what you're going for...then look no more! Keeping with the classic orange, brown and maroon colors for your wedding hues can create a BOLD statement making one of the most loved seasons a time to "Fall" in love! That's exactly what we wanted to accomplish with our "Fall"ing in Love wedding invitation. As Summer quickly fades away and Autumn creeps in, we happily welcome the change of seasons. Let's look at how we can combined the old season with the new creating a wedding that is right smack dab in the middle of the two seasons.

Pair your favorite solstice items like paper lanterns, short halter dresses and cake pops with your adored harvest colors and you will have a wedding your guest will be talking about 'til next summer.  See how a short dress in a cocoa color along with vivid Autumn colored bouquets can make your wedding party scream fall. Love those cake pops?!?! Why not take it to the next level and make pumpkin cake pops, what a great substitution for a traditional wedding cake!

Combine all these great ideas with our "Fall"ing in love wedding set. This set includes a triple layered invitation, printed on cream card stock and layered with copper and bronze shimmer card stocks. The full colored ink wording compliments the cute little falling leaf tree on top. We also created their save the dates magnets with a leaf print, in golden autumn colors, matching shimmer card stock programs and place cards with different color maple leaf brads and long menus printed on natural card stock. Give your guest a little kraft box of goodies keeping with your fall theme and using a matching tree tag; for more of a rustic feel have Hershey Kisses in burlap bags.

Fall Inspiration II - Shoreline

Fall weddings aren't always meant to be inside, or ALL orange! How about hues of tans and blues saving chocolate and orange for the accents? Dare we say beach wedding too? The votes have come in and it looks like beach inspired Fall weddings are soooo in!!! Look how our beautiful weddng invitation ties in perfectly to a simply gorgeous, but not so Fally, Fall inspired wedding.

Let's start out with a fun and flirty wedding dress by Moniqe Lhuillier, which is accented by his dark grey suit, the perfect light blue striped tie and a dogwood willow boutonniere; finally, the gorgeous bouquet filled with blue and orange mums and berries.

For this Autumn inspired beach wedding, we pulled together the elements and colors of both themes
and call it "Shoreline".

We printed on a bright white cardstock and added sand to the very bottom. We backed this beach invitation with a chocolate brown weave cardstock to add a darker Fall color and overall richness to the invitation. And for the icing on the cake, or ehhh invitation, we added a beautiful light blue handmade paper to the very top and back of this invitation. This blue handmade paper is extremely porous (holey) which allows the colors of the invitation to be seen through the paper keeping it light and airy. The entire invitation is pulled together with a chocolate brown wraffia tie on the very top of the card.
